A Productive Gold Investment Strategy

by Anthony on April 13, 2010

Gold investment is a smart and reliable way to make money and is very popular around the world.  I invest in Gold and makes up a considerable part of my own investment strategy.

There is plenty of information online regarding how to invest in Gold, but if you’re not careful you could end up in a never ending cycle of chasing that valuable piece of advice and not doing anything about the actual “investing”.

For example a search for “morgan dollars” in Google will yield over 10 million results.  How can you productively find the right information and analysis needed to invest smartly?

My first tip is to stick with one source.  Don’t try and average the analysis from multiple investment commentators.  This often just leads to confusion and an information overload.  The information will generally be the same anyway.

My second tip is to find a solid investment course that will teach you the basics.  Swiss America offers a good course that is free and will get you started in Gold investing and mint coins in no time at all.

So if you’ve thought about investing in Gold but worried about the time investment needed, don’t be.  By following some simple steps you can invest in Gold and still be productive.

Sleep Twice a Day to Be More Productive

by Anthony on March 22, 2010

It may sound silly, but sleeping twice a day will actually make you more productive.  Here’s why:

By default humans are biphasic sleepers.   This means we are meant to sleep twice in a 24 hour period.  You probably already notice yourself getting tire of an afternoon, and this is completely normal.

In many countries around the world, it is quite normal to take an afternoon nap.  This nap, will help with your metabolism and energise you well into the night.

But why does sleeping make you more productive?  Well, if you try and fight the urge to sleep, you will start losing focus and concentration.  Most likely you’ll end up procrastinating, or if you do manage to get work done, it will be of poor quality.

Of course its not practical for many people to sleep twice a day, but if you do have the option of taking an afternoon nap, than try it out.  You may become productive, get more done, and have a happier end to the day.  There is nothing like eliminating stress and staying more healthy and active with an afternoon nap.

How to Check Your Inbox Twice Daily

by Anthony on March 5, 2010

Sick of constantly checking your email inbox, only to find either spam or another barrage of pointless communications?  Because email is so instant, we often feel like we need to check the inbox every couple of hours.  But in reality, we can easily get way with checking it just twice daily, or even less.

The first step in cutting back on your email procrastination is to develop a schedule.  Checking email first thing in the morning isn’t going to be very productive (use this time to complete a task instead).  I like to make checking my inbox the second thing I do each day.  I set aside a period of no more than 30 minutes.

By setting yourself a deadline of 30 minutes, you’ll find that you are forced to be more brief with email replies and not get distracted by browsing around websites half way through.  If you don’t manage to empty your inbox in this allotted time, you’ll have to wait until the second inbox check later on in the day.

One important tip when dealing with email overload, is to deal with emails right away when you check your inbox.  Don’t leave unread items sitting in your inbox.  Either delete it or file it away appropriately.   You can also setup canned responses that you can paste in when people ask you common questions.

How to Beat Information Overload

by Anthony on January 21, 2010

By nature of our modern lifestyles, we are constantly bombarded with a constant stream of information.  Whether its on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube or offline on the radio or TV, there really is too much!

In order to beat information overload you will need to be able to focus and concentrate your time.  Thie biggest killer of productivity is jumping around from site to site, picking up too much content.

Set yourself some boundaries.    For example, how many times do you really need to check your email on a daily basis?  Can you get by only checking it twice daily?  I recommend just checking your inbox twice daily to avoid the constant and bordering on insane inbox check every 20 minutes.

Use the same technique on Twitter and Facebook.  Its not a good idea to be constantly checking Facebook and Twitter.  On Facebook, hide all non-relevant status updates.  These include Farmville and other application notifications.  They are useless and waste of information.  Instead only keep status updates from family and close friends.

How many blogs do you read?  Do you use an RSS reader?  Have a look at the blogs you read and try and cut down on the ones you don’t really read.  These include the ones you simply skim over.  Unless you’re reading and taking value away from each article,  a blog can be culled from your reading list.

So there you have some simple and easy ways to be more productive, get more done, and cut down on the amount of information you take in.

How to Increase Productivity

by Anthony on January 6, 2010

Are you suffering from a lack of time?  Unable to finish the tasks you start?  Well, here are some simple yet effective ways to increase productivity.

How to Increase Productivity

Use To Do Lists

Start creating lists of things you need to complete.  I like to keep a notepad handy that I can scribble down items.    Make sure you keep your list in an accessible place so that its always at hand.  If you don’t want a paper list, you could try using one of the many online todo list managers.

Set Yourself Reminders

Forgetting important things can cause stress and will result in a slump in productivity.  Set yourself reminders that you are unlikely to forget.  You could use your mobile phone, but a reminder application like Task.fm is much more effective.  It will keep track of your events in the cloud and send reminders through via email, sms, or even a phone call.

Track Your Time

Use a free tool like RescueTime to automatically track what you are spending time on.  Rescue Time runs on your PC or Mac and will give you a very detailed overview of exactly what you’re wasting time on.  Its great to cut down on procrastination.

Tackle One Task Right Away

Don’t let yourself procrastinate.  Take the time in the morning to tackle one important task before moving onto anything else.  Once you achieve this task, you will feel a small sense of achievement, hopefully leading to a boost in motivation.   Don’t try and take on too many tasks at once – you’ll just end up procrastinating.

So there are my tips on how to increase productivity.  What are yours?

How to Have a Productive Christmas

by Anthony on December 14, 2009

This is a free Private Label Article from ProductivityPLR.com – This article can be used on your own site, newsletter or blog.

2121806039_13d2e3e889For many people Christmas can be a very stressful time of year.  With so much going on, its often easy to forget that Christmas is suppossed to be a celebration and great time of year.  But if you stick to a few simple rules you’ll find yourself having a stress-free and productive holiday season.

Have a Plan

Nothing is worse than trying to store gift, food ideas and Christmas card lists in your head.  Get all of this information down on paper, where it won’t be forgotten.

Once this all down and out of your head, come up with a plan on what’s going to happen and when.  When do you want write Christmas cards by?  When are you going shopping and where?

I like to use a blank printed calendar that I can scribble all over and get a good overview of whats coming up.  I then transfer these dates into the reminder tool Task.fm (www.task.fm) which will send me an sms when I need to complete a task.

Start Early

I shop for Christmas gifts throughout the year.  In my mind, there is nothing worse than trying to do Christmas shopping all at the last minute.    Most of my shopping is done online in the comfort of an armchair.  If I come across a possible gift idea while browsing the internet, I bookmark it so I can come back later.

I use Delicious (www.delicious.com) for bookmarks, as I can tag possible ideas with a “gift” tag or “mums gift” for easy reference.

If you shop online not only will you avoid the queues and stress of shopping but it can often be a lot cheaper.  Make sure you shop around online for the best price.

Disconnect

Spend Christmas away from email and social networking sites.  Setup a Christmas auto-reply (can easily be done in gmail and most email clients) that lets people know you will be checking emails less often over the holiday season.

People won’t get annoyed as this is an expected practice.

Just Relax

Don’t worry about being too productive or organised.  At the end of the day, Christmas is a time to spend with family and friends and not your endless to-do list.

Each and everyday we use huge amount of paper.  Everything from receipts to documents, letters to bulk mail.   Apart from being bad for the environment, so much paper makes organisation and productivity more difficult.    But with a few easy and simple steps, you can eliminate some, if not most of the paper in your life.

Firstly, lets examine receipts and dockets. We receive these on a daily basis.  Most of the time, these are simply thrown away or filed into a messy heap.  Fortunately there is a better way….

The One Percent Solution

by Anthony on December 6, 2009

percentThe One Percent Solution Are you feeling lost and unsure about what tasks you should be doing to help improve your business.  My answer is to not stress and instead change the way you think.

Everyday your aim should be to improve your business by just 1%.  Whether its a few more sales, a better product, an improved website or a new lead.  1% sounds small, and it is.  The fact that its so small also means its also very achievable.

Although 1% sounds insignificant, if you look at the bigger picture – that’s 365% in a year.  I don’t know any entrepreneurs who think that a 365% improvement isn’t amazing.

The first step to following the 1% principle is to look at things that need to be improved.  Things like a dead link on a website, doesn’t sound very major – but will changing it improve your business?  Yes.   And so there you have a 1% change.

The 1 percent improvement doesn’t necessarily need to be one action.  Instead, it may be a series of tasks.   For example you may spend an hour or so on a social networking site connection with potential customers and improving your companies brand by just one little percent.

If you wake up every morning with a goal to improve that 1% your business will be in good hands.
